Reflexology

Reflexology or reflex zone therapy is an ancient form of healing that has been around at least since the 1500’s.    Reflex — the hands and feet reflect (or mirror) all of the body.  Zone — various areas of the hand and foot (zones) are related to the various areas (zones) of the body.  Therefore by massaging and treating the foot or hand, the complete body can be treated.

The foot consists of 26 bones, 33 articulations, 20 muscles, over 100 ligaments and over 7000 nerves, as well as lots of blood and lymphatic vessels.   The hand consists of 27 bones and tendons, and approximately an equivalent number of the other systems.

The well-known Chinese art of acupuncture further validates reflexology.  Acupuncture is based on the circulation of the life force called CHI through meridians.  There are 14 meridians which run through the body connecting organs and systems.  All meridians either end or start in the toes or fingers.   Acupuncture works by placing needles into these meridians in certain points all over the body.     Reflexology works by treating the toes and fingers where the meridians end or begin, during the treatment of the feet and hands.

Reflexology can be used to treat many conditions throughout the body.  It is a very relaxing therapy which helps release stress, tension and tiredness.  Problems from the lack or excess of energy in various organs or systems can be treated, thereby allowing the body’s natural healing ability to begin to work optimally.

Here is a list of just some of the things that reflexology can treat:

Allergies & Hay fever
Restless leg syndrome
Back pain
Bladder infections
Bronchitis
Chronic fatigue
Chronic pain
Constipation or  diarrhea
Ear infections
Female health problems
Fever
Gastritis problems & irritable bowel syndrome
Headaches
Insomnia & various sleep disorders
Sinus problems
Stress

Treatments can be done either in-person or long distance using energy healing.  A reflexology session on either the hands or feet takes 30 minutes.  Reflexology can also be incorporated into other healing modality sessions as well.
